Ludmila Gorlova. "Happy Childhood"

"he action held in the maternity home might have been classed with the emergent tradition of artists venturing into places least associated with art - prisons, public bath-houses, underground stations - had it contained a grain of irony and horseplay which were essential components of the preceding attempts in that line.
Discussing the painterly quality of the canvases exhibited by the author would be completely out of place for Ludmila Gorlova holds her chosen subject matter far above any esthetics. Her painting is rather a kind of propaganda in a deliberately realistic style aimed at young spectators. Her critical zest recalls the long-past juvenile complexes of Russian art.
